The Griquas’ U21 team beat last year’s champions in the SA Rugby U21 Shield tournament by 38 – 18.

By winning this match on Saturday, 12 October, the Northern Cape Griquas U21 players secured a home semifinal.

This match against the Pumas U21 team was played at the Suzuki Stadium in Kimberley, with the league phase of the competition coming to a close.

The Griquas U21 team is number one on the North section log, followed by the Griffons and Limpopo in the second and third place, respectively.

The Northern Cape team is fourth on the national log, with Boland, Border, and Eastern Province in the first, second and third position, respectively.

In the U21 Shield competition, the nine provincial U21 teams are divided into two sections. The South section comprises of Boland, Border, Eastern Province and the SWD Eagles, while the North section features the Pumas, Griffons, Griquas, Valke, and Limpopo.

  • On Saturday, 19 October, at 15:00 the U21 teams of the Griquas and Griffons meet for a semifinal match at the Kimberley Rugby Club at 6 Moore Street.

  • Braais next to the field are allowed.
