SuperSport has secured broadcasting rights to bring NBA games back to African audiences across more than 50 countries.

The partnership covers live regular-season games, playoff matches, and complete All-Star Weekend coverage. Basketball fans will access content through multiple SuperSport platforms starting this season.

Rendani Ramovha, CANAL+ Director of Sport Content for English and Portuguese-speaking Africa, announced the deal Tuesday. The agreement marks basketball’s return to the continent’s leading sports broadcaster.

“SuperSport’s NBA return represents a landmark moment for African sports broadcasting,” Ramovha said. “This partnership demonstrates our commitment to delivering world-class sports content across the continent.”

The executive highlighted basketball’s growing popularity across Africa. “This deal significantly advances basketball’s development throughout the region,” he explained. “African fans deserve front-row access to the world’s premier basketball league.”

NBA games will feature fully produced English-language commentary and analysis. The content reaches viewers through DStv linear channels, DStv Stream, and GOtv services. Showmax Premier League adds on-demand streaming options for flexible viewing.

DStv Compact packages across Sub-Saharan Africa include NBA coverage. GOtv Supa Plus subscribers also gain access to live games and highlights.

SuperSport will broadcast games across several channels including SuperSport Action and SuperSport Variety 3. GOtv Action and Go Africa 2 complete the distribution network.

Digital platforms enhance the viewing experience beyond traditional television. SuperSport’s social media channels will feature game highlights and key moments. DStv CatchUp allows viewers to watch missed games on demand.

The deal extends SuperSport’s sports portfolio following recent partnerships with major international leagues. CANAL+ platforms simultaneously offer French-language NBA coverage across francophone African markets.

Basketball’s popularity continues to grow across Africa, driven by increasing youth participation and international player success.
