Mitchells Plain police have opened a murder case after an unidentified man was shot and killed in Tafelsig on today (Friday 14 August).

Police spokesperson Capt FC van Wyk said the incident occurred about 10:55 on the corner of Laura Street and Fourth Avenue.

According to reports, the man got out of a white Toyota Avanza to go to a spaza shop when a white Toyota Quantum pulled up in front of him. The people in the Quantum just started shooting at the Avanza, Van Wyk said.

Those still in the Avanza sped away, leaving their fellow occupant outside the vehicle. He fled the shooting along Fourth Avenue, but his pursuers continued firing and he collapsed.
