BOHLOKONG, BETHLEHEM: Police in Bohlokong, Bethlehem have arrested a man in connection with the brutal killing of his brother-in-law, whose body was discovered in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The suspect was apprehended following preliminary investigations into the violent incident that shocked the community.

The grim discovery was made on Sunday January 11 around 4:50 am when Bohlokong police were alerted to a man’s body near a church at the intersection of De Villiers and Church Streets.

Upon arrival, officers found a 29-year-old man with fatal stab wounds to his chest and back. Paramedics were called to the scene but tragically pronounced the victim dead.

The deceased was later positively identified by his sister, who is also the wife of the arrested suspect.

While the motive behind the alleged murder remains unclear, swift action by Bohlokong police led to the arrest of the suspect, who is related to the deceased through marriage.

WO Mmako Mophiring, spokesperson for the police, confirmed the arrest and stated that the suspect is expected to appear before the Bethlehem Magistrate’s Court soon to face a charge of murder.

Investigations are underway to shed light on the circumstances that led to this tragic loss of life.
