HUMANSDORP – On the evening of 26 March, Kruisfontein United RC gathered at Palm Inn in Humansdorp for the official Ebrahim Patel Community Cup kit handover.

Set against a backdrop of quiet dignity and understated elegance, the occasion marked a significant milestone for a club that has become a cornerstone of its community.
What unfolded was more than a simple handover; it was a celebration of unity, resilience, and collective pride.
Kruisfontein United, regarded as a symbol of hope for Humansdorp and Kouga, stood at the heart of an evening dedicated to honouring how far the club has come.
The event drew a host of distinguished guests and speakers, each delivering a message that echoed the same powerful sentiment: this team represents something far greater than itself.
In stirring words of encouragement, Apostle Sebastiaan Witbooi reflected on the deep symbolism of the jersey, likening it to the coat of many colours from the Bible’s Genesis chapter 37; a garment of honour, destiny, and purpose.
Club president Vernon Breda took to the podium to express the profound privilege of competing in a tournament of such prestige, while paying heartfelt tribute to the enduring legacy of Ebrahim Patel, whose name the cup bears.
EPCC tournament convenor for Kruisfontein United RC, Jaques Alexander, delivered both the welcome and the vote of thanks.
In his remarks, he emphasised the extraordinary magnitude of a community club from Humansdorp competing at this level and the deep honour that accompanies it.
The evening was further elevated by the presence of the Ebrahim Patel Community Cup tournament director, Romano Lekay, who spoke passionately about the vital role of community-based clubs.
“They are the heart and blood of a community,” said Lekay, adding that representing one’s community is a calling far bigger than any individual.
Director of rugby and head coach, Frank Domingo, emphasised when announcing the squad that they have confidence in the players selected.
He believes they are a team that has shown dedication, commitment, and passion throughout the season.
They are out to write their own story in new territory.
Representatives from the Ebrahim Patel Community Cup sponsors, Score, Clicks, and FNB, added to the warmth of the occasion, sharing encouraging words and reaffirming their commitment to grassroots sport and development.
Kruisfontein United further thanked all their local sponsors, as well as all their supporters.
As the night ended, Kruisfontein United captain Solomon Manxodidi delivered a message that left little to the imagination.
With quiet conviction, Manxodidi made it clear: “The team is not heading to Outeniqua Park simply to take part; we are going to win the big prize.”
The Ebrahim Patel Community Cup is set to take place over Easter weekend, running from 2 to 6 April, at Outeniqua Park in George.
This year’s tournament will feature a strong field of competing teams, including: Botrivier RFC (Botrivier), Robertson RFC (Robertson), Safcol RFC (Grabouw), Heidelberg RFC (Heidelberg), Blanco RFC (George), Bridgton RFC (Oudtshoorn), Kruisfontein United RFC (Humansdorp) and PE Harlequins RFC (Gqeberha).
