Excessive flooding in the Chris Hani district has claimed the lives of at least three people since Friday, 10 February 2023.

The Chris Hani District Municipality has activated a Joint Operations Committee (JOC) for coordination of operations for the Komani flooding, which began on February 8.

The Cradock Provincial Hospital has had its power cut by the Inxuba Yethemba Local Municipality because the Department of Health has not paid its R5.7 million municipal account.

Flash floods that hit Komani during the early hours of the morning on February 8, have taken out generators at both the town’s hospitals and is allegedly placing patients’ lives at risk.
