Police yesterday, July 9, arrested a 37-year-old suspect in connection with the alleged rape and murder of a 102-year-old woman killed in her home in Bawa location near Butterworth on the night of July 2.
Police spokesperson, Lt Col Siphokazi Mawisa, said police followed information they received. When they were in the locality, the alleged suspect fled to the bushes after seeing the police vehicle. A chase ensued, and the suspect was apprehended in the bushes.
The suspect is to appear at the Butterworth Magistrate’s Court on Friday, July 11.
