THEUNISSEN – The police in the Lejweleputswa District conducted joint operations under high-density operations Karabo and Shanela II on Saturday 9 May.
Brigadier Envor Solomon led the operations as overall commander, with members from various police components and units, including visible policing, K9 unit, public order police, anti-gang unit and crime intelligence. The South African National Defence Force also deployed personnel, with Lieutenant Colonel Landman as operations commander.
During the operation, nine fines were issued for contravening the Liquor Act and the Animal Disease Act 35 of 1984. Police arrested and detained one person for possession of suspected drugs, one for fraud and two for driving under the influence.
The SAPS remains committed to intensifying crime-fighting strategies and ensuring a safe and secure environment for all.




On Thursday 7 May during an operation in Odendaalsrus the police in the Lejweleputswa District conducted a roadblock operation on the R70 road.
The operation, led by Colonel Mkhumbeni, was held in collaboration with the South African National Defence Force, traffic department, youth desk and the community policing forum.
The objective was to tackle illegal and criminal activities affecting motorists and commuters, intercept the movement of illicit and stolen goods, and ensure road safety adherence.
About 70 vehicles and 164 people were searched during the operation. Fines were issued for road traffic act violations.
The integrated approach focused on the possession of suspected stolen property, drugs, illegal firearms and road safety compliance.
The police said it will continue working with various stakeholders to ensure a comprehensive approach to crime combating efforts.
