This beautiful hawk was photographed by Jeanetta Hoekstra. Hoekstra said: “The Black Sparrow Hawk, a dark morph, is not a regular visitor to Hermanus as far as I know. We often see raptors here in the Sandbaai residential area, for example, Yellow-billed Kite’s, African Harrier Hawk, Jackal Buzzard, Peregrine Falcon or Common Buzzard. This is the first time I saw a Black Sparrow Hawk flying over our house in the residential area of Sandbaai. According to my Bird Pro App the location is correct for them to be in the Overberg area though and has already been recorded.”Photo: Jeanetta Hoekstra
