South African music fans are in for a once-in-a-lifetime experience this September as American fretless guitar legend Ned Evett embarks on The Glass Highway Tour.
The guitar player will be performing across South Africa in a series of electrifying live shows. Known for his genre-defying sound and jaw-dropping technical prowess, Evett will showcase his signature fretless glass guitar skills, captivating audiences from Johannesburg to Cape Town.

Talking about his tour, he explains his fascination with local legends. “I saw Johnny Clegg and Savuka in the US when I was a kid and that inspired me to someday play music there. During my first tour to SA earlier this year, I saw Merrick Kyle playing bass at Jozi’s Showbar and he blew me away; turns out he was just sitting in with the band but he played and moved like he was their full time dude!”
This South African tour follows his recent success opening for guitar icons Joe Satriani and Steve Vai in Europe, where he left audiences spellbound. Now, it’s South Africa’s turn to witness the magic of one of the world’s most innovative guitarists live on stage.
Hailing from Nashville, Tennessee and now based in Los Angeles, Ned Evett is not only a master guitarist but also an inventor. He created the glass-necked fretless guitar and the glass slide capo, revolutionizing the way guitar music is played and heard. His performances are a thrilling fusion of technical brilliance and raw, emotive power. Evett’s CV reads like a who’s who of music royalty. He has shared the stage with legends such as Leon Russell, The Allman Brothers Band, Joe Satriani, Robert Cray, Eric Johnson, and even performed for music giants Sting and John McLaughlin.
Guitar Player Magazine calls him “the world’s first fretless guitar rockstar,” and his newest album, Strange Kind of Freedom, cements his place at the cutting edge of modern rock and guitar artistry.
