First Princess steps into Mrs South Africa 2026 role after Singh’s resignation

First Princess Carika Bebb has officially assumed the title of Mrs South Africa 2026 following the resignation of Verushka Singh, the organisation has confirmed.

In line with Mrs South Africa’s succession protocol, Bebb has stepped into the role with immediate effect and will take over all duties and responsibilities associated with the title.

“It is an honour to step into this role and to continue the work of this incredible women empowerment platform,” Bebb said. “I am committed to representing Mrs South Africa with purpose and pride, and look forward to making a meaningful difference through the causes close to my heart.”

The announcement follows Singh’s decision to step down just months after being crowned. She was officially crowned Mrs South Africa 2026 on 15 November 2025 at the pageant’s grand finale held at Emperors Palace.

According to the official Mrs South Africa organisers, her crowning marked a historic moment, as she became the first South African Indian woman to hold the title.

Mrs South Africa said Singh had chosen to resign in order to prioritise personal commitments and her family, adding that her decision is respected.

“This decision is entirely my own, made with my family’s needs at heart, and I step away with nothing but appreciation for Mrs South Africa and what it stands for,” Singh said.

Scheduled events to continue as planned

Chief executive officer Joani Jacobs said Singh had carried the title with professionalism during her time on the platform.

“We respect her decision and support her in prioritising what matters most in this season of her life,” Jacobs said.

Mrs South Africa said its programme activities and scheduled events will continue as planned, reaffirming its commitment to developing women of influence and impact.

In a social media tribute, Bebb also honoured Singh, describing her decision as courageous.

“You will forever be a queen in my eyes,” she wrote, adding that Singh is “destined for greatness”.
