There was plenty of action on and off the greens of Kuilsriver Golf Club as Stellenbosch Cricket Club (SCC) hosted annual fundraising golf day on Friday 27 March.
The event raised funds for the club’s Junior Development Programme, and saw 80 players tee-off on the quality course in near-perfect weather conditions.
Apart from the golfers who showed their support through their participation, various organisations and businesses also signed up to support the cause.
“This support is crucial for community sports and, as a club, we are sincerely appreciative of each of their efforts,” said Brian Minnis, SCC chairperson.
“We had celebrities honouring our day, including former Proteas cricketer Roger Telemachus, Stellenbosch FC coach Gavin Hunt, musician Don Vino and former Bafana Bafana striker Shaun Bartlett. The day ended with Theo Esau as the master of ceremonies at the prize-giving, generating a lot of laughs.”

An additional fun fundraising challenge on the course, included golfers signing up for the “cricket bat challenge,” which entailed players wacking a golf ball with a cricket bat on a par 3 hole.
“Needless to say no-one achieved that feat,” Minnis related. All-in-all, the golfers enjoyed the day and wet-holes on offer, while close to 20 prizes were handed over at the prize-giving. We congratulate all who participated and trust they had lots of fun.
“We extend our sincere appreciation to all our sponsors who assisted us in making the 2026 edition a success, Kuilsriver Golf Club and all the players who took time and supported our efforts in sustaining our Junior Development Programme.”
