In a race packed with professional cyclists, the Fairtree DP World Cannondale MTB team held their own and just missed out on top 20 finishes.

The team participated in the Ford Trailseeker on Saturday 12 September. Cyclists Luyanda Tobigunya, Ethan Michaels, Kusaselihle Ngidi, Ziandro Jordaan, Atlehang Motsokotsi, Kwazi Mbhamali and Yomelela Mfazwe crossed the line of the extremely tough race in Wellington.

Team manager Chris Norton said the race course has some flowing single track, which the Fairtree DP World Cannondale riders really enjoy and know well.

The team’s top riders were Jordaan who finished 22nd overall, followed by Ngidi (32nd) Motsokotisi (36th) and Tobigunya (38).

“Tobigunya also won his age group, which is a phenomenal result. This bodes extremely well for races coming up such as the Wines2Whales and we can see our teams really building endurance and fitness at the right time. Having five riders in the top 40 is beyond expectations,” Norton says.

Mbhamali finished in 54th place and Mfazwe in 208th. The teamed thanked its sponsors DP World, Fairtree Capital, Cannondale and Biogen for the support.
