Every August La Motte Wine Estate makes the most of syrah to enjoy the last stretch of winter.

Rather than only celebrating this versatile variety on its national day (Friday 21 August), the Franschhoek estate finds ways to make it part of the last stretch of winter in every way it can.

How syrah adapts to terroir, how beautifully it blends and matures and its exceptional versatility as a dinner partner make it an obvious choice for wine farmers, winemakers and wine drinkers.

Guests are invited to taste the influence of vineyards and vintages by relax in front of the Tasting Room fireplace or making the most of sunny days on the veranda by enjoying the 2024 Reserve Syrah, a sensational example of how the spicy, perfumed character of cool-climate Elim Syrah complements a creamy texture and red fruit Franschhoek profile.

Also try the Pierneef Atelier Syrah Viognier, the estate’s flagship Hanneli R Rhône-style blend and a special vintage from the Rupert Vinoteque on the estate.

This experience is available at the estate from 09:00 to 17:00 daily at R200.

Furthermore, winter in the Winelands is the perfect time to enjoy beautiful food and wine. Guests are invited to enjoy the warming winter menu at L’Ami Family Brasserie.

Additional to the regular L’Ami offering, guests can choose between a two- or three-course option, including a glass of wine from the La Motte Reserve Collection with both starter and main course at R495 and R595 respectively.

This offer is available from Wednesday to Sunday throughout August.
