The bloodshed in Kayamandi continued last week when two men were fatally gunned down in a house Tuesday 8 September.

Stellenbosch police confirmed they are investigating two counts of murder and two attempted murders following a shooting in Chris Hani Street.

The police were informed of the incident at 19:55. On their arrival at the residence, officers found an unknown man on the ground and another on a couch. Both has suffered gunshot wounds and were declared dead on the scene by medical personnel.

“During the investigation it were discovered that there were four individuals in the house at the time of the shooting,” said Captain Nathalie Martin, spokesperson for Stellenbosch police.05

“Two were deceased and the other two victims were taken to Stellenbosch Hospital.”

Gun violence in the neighbourhood has become a regular occurrence over the last couple of months. Over one weekend last month, three people were shot dead.

On Thursday 27 August, police found an unknown man lying face-down in Forest Drive.

Later that evening a woman reported her brother had been fatally shot and a short time later a body with gunshot wounds was found close to Kayamandi Primary School.
