KROONSTAD – Two suspects have been arrested for possession of drugs with a street value of R20 000.

The men, aged 30 and 36, were arrested on Friday 12 December during a roadblock in Maokeng.

The arrest happened at about 08:00 when the SAPS, in partnership with traffic, CPF, and the youth desk, conducted a roadblock at Marabastad section, Maokeng.

During the roadblock, a taxi was stopped, and while searching it, the members noticed an man carrying a box with packets of noodles and a hidden black plastic bag containing drugs suspected to be Mandrax.

The male was taken to his residence, where another male was found. A search of the premises uncovered 16 tablets of suspected drugs and an undisclosed amount of cash.

Both males were arrested, and the suspected drugs with a street value of R20 000 and cash were confiscated.

The suspects are expected to appear before the Kroonstad Magistrates’ Court on Monday 15 December, on charges of possession of suspected stolen property and being an illegal immigrant.
