LIMPOPO – Two men, both believed to be about 30 years old, were shot and killed in an apparent ambush at Kurhula Village in Lulekani, Limpopo at 21:10 on Friday 21 August.
In a statement, Limpopo police said the victims were in a stationary vehicle outside a residence, when they were apparently approached by an unknown man, who was reportedly standing near an unfinished shop.
The man allegedly opened fire on the two men before fleeing the scene on foot.
Police and emergency personnel found both victims inside the vehicle with gunshot wounds to their upper bodies. They were declared dead at the scene.
The identities of the deceased have been confirmed.
Limpopo police are investigating the double murder and have launched a manhunt for the suspect. The motive for the shooting remains unknown.
Limpopo provincial police commissioner Lieutenant-General Jan Scheepers called for swift apprehension of the suspect, urging investigators to leave no stone unturned in their efforts to establish the circumstances surrounding the killings and bring those responsible to book.
The investigation is still ongoing.
