Do the Time Warp again: Rocky Horror Show returns to Cape Town


The cult musical The Rocky Horror Show is coming to Theatre on the Bay in Camps Bay from 7 April to 31 May.

Presented by Pieter Toerien Productions in association with the Luitingh Alexander Musical Theatre Academy (LAMTA), the production promises to deliver the wild energy and rock anthems that have made this show a global phenomenon for over 50 years.

Director Steven Stead returns with his staging of Richard O’Brien’s musical, which previously played in Durban. The production features an experienced South African cast led by Craig Urbani (We Will Rock You, My Fair Lady) as Dr Frank-N-Furter, with Léa Blerk (Joseph, Dear Evan Hansen) as Janet and Robert Everson (Noises Off) as Brad.

The supporting cast includes Schoemann Smit as Riff, Jasmine Minter as Magenta, Anna Olivier as Columbia, Natasha Sutherland as the Narrator, Micah Stokajovic as Rocky, and Zak Hendrikz as Eddie/Dr Scott.

Fresh energy

Richard O’Brien’s 1973 musical follows sweethearts Brad and Janet as they encounter the mysterious Dr Frank-N-Furter and his eccentric household after seeking shelter during a storm.

The story unfolds as a journey of transformation and self-discovery, powered by memorable songs including “Time Warp,” “Sweet Transvestite,” and “Hot Patootie”.

Stead’s production brings fresh energy to the beloved classic while honouring its rebellious spirit. Known for its devoted fanbase and interactive audience participation, The Rocky Horror Show continues to attract both long-time fans and curious newcomers drawn to its celebration of individuality and theatrical spectacle.

The production is rated PG16.
