The Challenger final saw the MC Boys rise to the occasion, securing a convincing 31-17 victory over Strand RFC.
It was a proud moment for the hosts, who delivered a performance worthy of the occasion.
The day’s action kicked off in spectacular fashion with the Shield final, where a spirited Strand United side overcame Faure 48-28 in an entertaining encounter that set the tone for the day.
Individual honours went to Tumelo Moremi of Sir Lowrians RFC, who was named Player of the Tournament.
The impressive forward consistently demonstrated his quality throughout the competition, making him a deserving recipient of the accolade.
“As hosts of the 2026 tournament, Macassar RFC would like to extend its sincere gratitude to all participating clubs for their contribution to another successful edition of the CommCup. Special appreciation goes to our sponsors, Score Energy and Biltong Corner, whose support helped make the tournament possible,” the club shared in a statement.
“We also extend our heartfelt thanks to the communities and supporters who came out in numbers to back their teams. Your passion, loyalty and enthusiasm are the heartbeat of community rugby. Without the support of our communities, the CommCup would not be what it is today. Finally, we are delighted to announce that Sir Lowrians RFC will host the CommCup in 2027.
“We look forward to seeing the tournament continue to grow under their stewardship as we work together to establish the CommCup as one of the premier community rugby tournaments in the Western Cape. The CommCup is more than a rugby tournament. It is about community, heritage, opportunity and the future of our game.”
Macassar RFC concluded by extending a “thank you” to everyone who played a part in making the 2026 instalment of the CommCup a success.
