Mandela Day was a heart-warming celebration for Masikhule and the local organisation extends its heartfelt thanks to everyone who participated in its Cast On 4 Kids initiative.
“Your time, effort, skills and generosity have made a tangible difference in the lives of children in marginalised communities across the Helderberg,” said Masikhule’s Sandy Immelman.
The local NPO trains women in early childhood development (ECD) and supports nearly 80 ECD centres from Sir Lowry’s Pass to Macassar and Eeste River.
Cast On 4 Kids is its annual Mandela Day initiative, aimed at collecting warm items for the 2 500 children under six years old who attend these centres.

On Friday 17 July, the Helderberg community came together to drop off donations or join organisation representatives in knitting and crocheting.
By the afternoon, the trainer-mentors began distributing the lovingly crafted blankets and beanies to 20 ECD centres.
“We are deeply grateful to everyone who contributed to making a difference for the children who need it most,” said Immelman.
