Learners of Helderberg High School spent a day reaching out to those less fortunate at Morkel Cottage Crèche in Strand recently, when they beautified and enhanced the facility’s play area.
“This outreach project definitely gave a sense of purpose and fulfilment to each of our learners, knowing they made a positive difference in the lives of others,” the school said in a statement.
“Serving others can be a transformative experience, offering opportunities for personal growth, empathy and a deeper understanding of the needs and challenges faced by others. It is a value we encourage in our learners.”
The project had four main focus areas – painting the jungle gym, installing a new sandpit, creating a fairy garden and painting a hop-scotch grid for the children of the crèche.
“We would like to thank TimBuild Somerset West as well as Sand and Stone for their generous contributions in making this project possible,” the statement read.
“Lastly, but by no means least, thank you to the wonderful parents and learners of Helderberg High School who donated food and joined in in this project. You are truly amazing.”
