A 51-year-old man will appear in the Strand Magistrates’ Court on a charge of dealing in drugs on Monday (26 April).

This after teamwork between the community and the provincial police’s Tactical Response Team led to the man’s arrest yesterday afternoon (Thursday 22 April).

Provincial police spokesperson Sergeant Noloyiso Rwexana said the police members followed up on information about suspected drug dealing at an address in Gordon’s Bay. “Upon their arrival and search of the residence, the members found tik and heroin worth a substantial amount,” she stated, adding that an undisclosed amount of money was also found in the man’s possession.

“The members arrested the 51-year-old man for dealing in drugs. He is due to appear in court on Monday (26 April).”

Rwexana confirmed the estimated street value of the drugs found is R170 000. – DistrictMail
