Two teenagers, aged 15 and 17, face murder charges after a man was fatally stabbed at an event in Chris Nissen Park.

The incident took place at 02:00 on Sunday 10 May, when a 32-year-old man was attending the event. It is alleged that the suspects had stolen items at the event and made off, with the man chasing after them.

A fight allegedly ensued between the trio, resulting in the man being stabbed with a sharp object three times. He was rushed to hospital, but succumbed to his wounds on the way.

Somerset West police arrested the teenagers later the same day. The duo appeared in the Somerset West Magistrates’ Court on charges of murder on Tuesday 12 May.

Somerset West police station commander Colonel Jacolize Fleischmann condemned the incident and extended her condolences to the family of the deceased.
