Trieng! presents two performances on at THE DRAMA FACTORY in Strand on Saturday 25 April at 09:00 and 10:30, specifically designed for theatre’s youngest audience aged four months to six years. The 35-minute production by Schoemé Steenkamp from PuppeTrix is an ode to the landline telephone and a gentle story about connection and communication. The show explores young children’s magical belief that you can call anyone, anytime, using anything, whether it’s a smartphone or a shoe. The performance celebrates the deep-rooted desire to communicate that exists within us from the very beginning of life. Created especially for babies and toddlers, Trieng! is mostly non-verbal and draws on the imagination of young children. The production includes the whimsical idea that when you miss someone, you can call them because “the same stars shine above us all”. Steenkamp, who previously delighted tiny theatre-goers with “Babah-Go-Round” and “Babah-Go-Wild” at the local theatre venue, returns with this new Theatre for the Very Early Years adventure, made possible by Klein KKNK Teater. The experience includes play and exploration time after the performance, making theatre accessible and engaging for the very youngest audiences. Music is provided by Gertjie Gert Besselsen.
