DE DOORNS – Police in the Western Cape confirmed that the body of a man who was reported missing in De Doorns in the Cape Winelands was found with multiple stab wounds to his face.
Bongikoshi “Bongi” Thomas was allegedly ambushed when someone offered to buy his car on Facebook Marketplace. He was last seen on Wednesday (27 May) around 18:00, on his way to a local petrol station to meet the prospective buyer.
His body was found at the entrance of a local cemetery on Friday 29 May. The exact circumstances surrounding Thomas’s killing are still under investigation.
Provincial police spokesperson Captain Thembakazi Mpendukana confirmed that the lifeless body of the 34-year-old man, who had been reported missing, was found on Keurboskloof Road at 10:15.
“He sustained stab wounds on his face. The police opened a murder case for further investigation and no arrest has been made yet,” Mpendukana added.
Heartfelt message
The Western Cape Truck Incidents Group Members wrote a heartfelt message on Facebook, mourning Thomas’s death.
“We wish to extend our deepest and most heartfelt condolences to SN Pool Transport Worcester and the family of the late Bongikoshi Thomas. It is with great sadness that we share the news of Thomas’s passing,” the post read.
“We are truly sorry for this devastating loss. Thomas was a colleague, and his absence will be felt deeply by all who knew him and worked alongside him. Please know that our thoughts, prayers, and support are with SN Pool Transport Worcester, his family, his friends, and everyone who was close to him during this extremely painful time.”
