A notice went out from the Mangaung Metro that there was power outages at Welbedacht water treatment plant that have placed the system under severe strain.
This lead to reservoirs being fed by the system being critically low, and booster pumps that are off.
The Mangaung Metro will deploy water tankers to priority areas.
Affected areas in the metro include Wepener, Dewetsdorp, Pellissier, Fauna, Vista Park, Phelindaba, Rocklands, Freedom Square, Peter Swartz, Phases 2–7 and 9–10, Bloemanda, Langenhovenpark, Spitskop, Bainsvlei, Groenvlei, Heidedal.
Residents are urged to use water for essential needs only. Teams are on high alert. Updates to follow.
