A Gr.8 learner of the Jim Fouché High School, Katelynn Muller, received gold at the South African National Archery Association’s (SANAA) National Championships.
The 76th championship meet took place at Marks Park in Johannesburg from 27 to 29 March. This also served as the Southern African Regional Championships.
A total of 152 archers from across South Africa, Namibia, Kenya and Zimbabwe competed in both the team and individual events, in compound and recurve divisions.
Katelynn participated in her fourth consecutive national championship and also won a fourth consecutive gold medal in her age division. She came first in the compound division for girls U15. She also received gold in this division in 2025; and in 2024 and 2023 when she competed as U13.
Katelynn is now preparing for her next national competition and will be in action again on 2 and 3 May, when she will compete in the South African National Indoor and Field Archery Association’s (SANIFAA) National Indoor Championships.
Sunet Small, also from Bloemfontein, competed in the recurve division, in the class for women over 50, and also took hold against two archers from Kenya.
Kobus Barnard competed in the compound division, against nine others in the class for men over 50, and was third in his division.
