CLOCOLAN – An intelligence-driven operation by the Provincial Anti-Gang Unit (PAGU) in Bloemfontein, currently deployed in the Ficksburg area, has resulted in the arrest of a female suspect for dealing in drugs and the recovery of a significant quantity of narcotics.
On Tuesday, 28 October, at approximately 21:00, PAGU members received intelligence-led information regarding an African male and female who were allegedly transporting and distributing drugs between Clocolan and Ficksburg.
Members proceeded to the suspects’ residence in Clocolan. Whilst en route, further intelligence was received, indicating that the primary suspect, a 24-year-old woman, was travelling from Johannesburg after allegedly collecting a consignment of drugs.

The PAGU team immediately established a roadblock on the R26 road near Clocolan, where the suspect’s vehicle was intercepted.
The police discovered a large quantity of nyaope drugs in her possession. The woman was taken to her house for a further search, where police recovered two full tablets of Mandrax.
The suspect was immediately placed under arrest and formally charged with dealing in drugs. The estimated street value of the recovered drugs is R11 000.
Police also confiscated an undisclosed amount of cash suspected to be proceeds from drug sales.
The 24-year-old woman will appear in Clocolan Magistrates’ Court shortly.
Police management has commended the Provincial Anti-Gang Unit for its continuous commitment to dismantling drug distribution networks and ensuring the safety of communities in the Free State Province.
The successful operation demonstrates the effectiveness of intelligence-led policing in combating drug trafficking along major transport routes in the province.
