CAPE TOWN — Provincial Serious Violent Crime detectives have launched an investigation into a deadly shooting that claimed the lives of three men and left another wounded in Philippi East on Sunday night.
The incident occurred at bout 23:15 on 15 June when unknown assailants entered a residence in 18083 Road, Better Life, where four men were gathered. According to police reports, the victims, aged between 28 and 39, were consuming alcohol when the attackers opened fire.
Emergency medical personnel who responded to the scene declared three of the victims dead on arrival. The fourth victim, who sustained gunshot wounds during the attack, was transported to a nearby medical facility for urgent treatment. His current condition has not been disclosed.
Law enforcement officials have confirmed they are investigating three counts of murder and one count of attempted murder in connection with the shooting.
The motive for the shooting is unknown.
