Allan Gray Foundation seeks next generation of entrepreneurial leaders

The Allan Gray Orbis Foundation is inviting eligible Grade 6 learners across South Africa to apply for its High School Scholarship Programme, before Tuesday 15 September.

The Scholarship offers a long-term entrepreneurial development journey for young people who demonstrate curiosity, leadership potential and a desire to create meaningful change in their communities.

Successful recipients gain access to a structured entrepreneurial curriculum designed to build confidence, unlock potential and cultivate an entrepreneurial mindset from an early age.

The Foundation is looking for Grade 6 learners who demonstrate academic excellence, entrepreneurial leadership potential and financial need. Parents, guardians, teachers and schools are encouraged to identify Grade 6 learners who demonstrate curiosity, resilience, initiative and a desire to solve problems in the world around them.

Scholarship application requirements:

  • Completing Grade 6 in 2026.
  • The Scholarship opportunity is an entrepreneurial programme not only for financial support in high school.
  • Applicant must show interest in becoming an entrepreneur/business owner.
  • Applicant must obtain a minimum overall average of 70% for all subjects in Grade 5 and Grade 6.
  • Applicants must obtain a minimum of 70% for both English and Mathematics in Grade 5 and Grade 6.
  • Applicants must clearly demonstrate financial need. (Household income must not exceed a monthly gross income of R20 000, including business revenue).
  • Applicants must be South African citizens (with at least one parent who is a South African citizen).
  • Candidates must not be older than 12 years of age and not younger than 11 years of age in Grade 6 (Candidates must be born in 2014 or 2015).

  • Tuition and boarding.
  • Uniform, stationery, textbooks, toiletries and casual clothing.
  • A monthly allowance.
  • Support for extramural activities.
  • Workshops, speaker events and seminars.
  • Regional Entrepreneurial Experience sessions.
  • Annual entrepreneurial conference.
  • Online learning conference.
  • Programme Officer support, mentorship and one-on-one Courageous Conversations.
