STELLENBOSCH – Tributes continue to pour in for Brad Haller, a cricket coach at Paul Roos Gymnasium (PRG), following his sudden death at the weekend.
The exact cause of death of the 29-year-old has not been disclosed.
The school announced his passing on social media on Sunday 7 June, stating: “It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of one of our beloved and respected staff members, Brad Haller.
“Brad has been an integral part of the Paul Roos cricket community and sports office since 2021. As staff, learners and PRG community we mourn his passing, honour his contribution to PRG and extend our deepest condolences to his family and friends.”

Tributes from near and far
Several followers shared their condolences beneath the post, with one writing: “What a sad loss of a great coach and role model to so many boys – his legacy will live on in all of them for many years to come. Condolences to the family and friends. RIP Brad.”
Haller was originally from East London and attended Kingswood College in Makhanda (Grahamstown) before furthering his studies at Nelson Mandela University in Gqeberha.
In a post on its website, Kingswood College wrote: “Brad’s passing has come as a profound shock to all who knew him, and our thoughts are with his family, friends, and loved ones as they come to terms with this heartbreaking loss.
“As fellow members of the Kingswood community, many of you will have shared classrooms, sports fields, boarding houses, friendships, and memories with Brad. He will be remembered with affection by those whose lives he touched during his time at Kingswood and beyond.”
Several schools, including neighbouring Hoër Meisieskool Bloemhof and Rhenish Girls’ High School, took to social media to pay their respects and sympathize with PRG staff, learners, and Haller’s family.
A memorial service will reportedly be held in the Japie Krige Hall at PRG on Friday 12 June.
