Jade Morris is running 100km for Bizweni Centre for Children with Disabilities.

Helderberg local Jade Morris was already several kilometres into a gruelling 100km journey as soon as the sun rose early on Monday morning (2 March) as the 27-year-old began her mission to raise vital funds and awareness for the Bizweni Centre for Children with Disabilities.

The route she marked out spans the streets surrounding Somerset Mall towards the scenic Strand promenade, and is a massive physical undertaking designed to mirror the resilience shown by the children Jade is running for.

Jade started the run early this morning.

The highlight of the day occurred at midday when the a group of children from the Bizweni Centre made a special trip to the route to cheer Jade on. Their smiles and excitement provided a timely boost as she hit the halfway mark of her century-run.

“This special place provides a loving, safe environment for children to learn and grow, regardless of their backgrounds or individual challenges,” Jade shared. “By contributing to this campaign, you’re helping to provide education, therapy, and much more to 67 wonderful children.”

The Bizweni Centre, a pillar of the Somerset West community, currently supports 67 children, offering a nurturing setting where individual challenges are met with professional therapy and specialized education. For many of these families, the centre is a lifeline, but maintaining such high standards of care requires significant resources.

Jade’s goal is to ensure that these children have every tool necessary to reach their personal goals. “Every donation, big or small, will make a difference in their lives,” she urged. “Together, we can help provide the resources and support they need.”

As of 12:30 on Monday Jade had reached almost 75% of her target and completed 52km.
