Applications are now open for Mrs South Africa 2026, with organisers declaring this “the year of the formidable woman” as married women across the country begin submitting their entries for the prestigious pageant.

The search comes as the competition celebrates an impressive legacy of recent winners who have made their mark both nationally and internationally. Tshego Gaelae made history as the first Black woman to be crowned Mrs World, whilst Erin-Jane Miller emerged as a powerful advocate for women and vulnerable children.

Most recently, Verushka Singh, crowned in November last year, became the first Indian Mrs South Africa and has pioneered work in climate sustainability.

Growing interest drives programme expansion

Joani Jacobs, CEO of Mrs South Africa, says this succession of accomplished winners has sparked unprecedented interest in the programme, with women eager to continue the legacy of empowerment.

“Every year we’re delighted to see how interest in the pageant continues to grow, with more women discovering the value the programme and our famous sisterhood can bring to their lives – from confidence and personal growth to lifelong connections,” she explains.

The organisation is preparing an expanded lineup of leadership workshops, webinars, mentoring sessions, public speaking opportunities, and charity initiatives to ensure every participant benefits from the experience.

The MBA of life

Affectionately termed the MBA of Life, the Mrs South Africa journey is a ten-month commitment designed to develop confidence, leadership, and personal capability. Participants learn presentation and marketing skills, project and event management, purposeful communication, and media handling.

Specialist partners, coaches, and alumni provide continuous support, offering practical guidance on building personal brands, expanding networks, and unlocking new opportunities.

“Many contestants go on to achieve far greater things than they ever imagined, driving real change and confidently taking control of the world around them – always knowing that the full strength of the Mrs South Africa sisterhood is behind them,” Jacobs adds.
