The annual Franschhoek Cap Classique & Champagne Festival took place this weekend (on 29 and 30 November), in which Capitec served as partner for the second consecutive year to celebrate some of South Africa’s most distinguished exports.

Set against the iconic backdrop of the Huguenot Monument, this highlight on the social calendar brought together the country’s leading Cap Classique producers alongside selected French champagnes for a weekend defined by culinary flair and refined festivity.

The festival opened the gates at 11:00 on both days where guests could enjoy themselves until 18:00 on Saturday and 17:00 on Sunday.

This year’s dress theme, “Champagne White with a Pop of Blue and a Note of Pinot Noir Red,” encouraged festival goers to embrace the art of style with a sommelier’s touch. A curated selection of South Africa’s top Cap Classiques and French Champagnes was on offer, complemented by food stalls and live entertainment from Coda Africa, ShenFM and DJ Tuck Tailored. There was also a best-dressed competition on both the Saturday and Sunday.

“We are thrilled to once again be part of the Franschhoek Cap Classique & Champagne Festival,” said Asha Patel, head of brand and communications at Capitec, “a celebration of elegance, success and shared moments. This partnership reflects our passion for empowering growth, supporting local businesses and making a meaningful difference. The festival is a true highlight on the social calendar and offers the perfect stage to connect with our clients while celebrating the vibrant lifestyle that defines South Africa.”

Festival goers were able to sample Cap Classique from a distinguished selection of producers, including Alleé Bleue, Anura, Boschendal, De Grendel, Graham Beck, La Motte, Quoin Rock and Villiera. The dress theme also sets the tone for a visually-striking occasion, tailor-made for lifestyle pages and social media as those attending showcased their own interpretation of vinous elegance. In classic Capitec fashion, added value formed part of the luxury experience, with clients who purchased tickets using a Capitec Credit Card receiving a R50 discount.

Each ticket included a commemorative champagne flute and 10 tasting tokens, allowing guests to explore, sip and savour at leisure.

Whether seasoned connoisseurs or simply lovers of good food, good company and good times, guests found the Franschhoek Cap Classique & Champagne Festival to be a celebration of taste, sensory indulgence and standout moments.
