GANYESA, North West – Approximately 300 community members gathered outside the Ganyesa Magistrates’ Court today as four suspects accused of murdering police Constable Boikanyo Molale made their second court appearance.

The demonstration, organised by COSATMA, saw residents stand in unity against the escalating violence targeting law enforcement officers in the province. The Office of the MEC for Community Safety and Transport Management in North West joined community members in the peaceful protest outside the court building.

Molale (30) was found dead on 25 October at 5:30 in the Thokoza Section of Ganyesa. The off-duty officer, who was attached to Ganyesa Visible Policing, had been brutally assaulted by an unknown number of suspects and was declared dead at the scene.

Two suspects, aged between 22 and 27, were arrested in connection with the murder. They are Beziwe Kiet, Phemelo Kiet, Thabiso Kgosiencho and Keookantse Kgosiencho. 

During today’s proceedings, the accused decided to abandon their bail applications.

The case has been postponed until Monday, 1 December for further investigation. The motive for the killing remains unclear, with police continuing their search for additional suspects who may have been involved in the attack.

Acting North West Police Commissioner Major General (Dr) Ryno Naidoo expressed deep sadness over Molale’s death and has instructed investigation teams to intensify efforts to track down any remaining suspects.

The murder of Molale has highlighted the growing threat faced by police officers, both on and off duty. 27 members of the SAPS who have been killed in the line of duty between 1 April 2024 and 31 March 2025, and more than 100 officers have lost their lives in the last four years.
