Bloemfontein – Mangaung Metro JOINTS role-players and Youth and Social Responsibility Committee members conducted an unannounced school search at Roseview Primary School on Thursday, 23 October.
The intervention followed complaints received by Parkweg Station Schools Safety Officer Sergeant Tsholohelo Taba from the School Governing Body, which included concerns about indecent exposure amongst learners.
Multi-Agency Response
The School Safety Officer invited G4S Correctional Centre, National Prosecution Authority, Community Police Forum, and various SAPS units including Visible Policing Unit, Crime Intelligence, and Corporate Communication and Liaison for the intervention.
The search was followed by awareness sessions with Grade 6 and 7 male learners, focusing on several key safety and behavioural issues.
Safety Warnings Issued
Learners received warnings that they are not permitted to bring dangerous weapons to school or involve themselves with drugs, following allegations that pupils were bringing vapes to school premises.
Students were also warned against inappropriate physical contact, particularly with female classmates, and against exposing themselves indecently to one another.

Cyber-Bullying Concerns Addressed
During the search, the team observed that most learners bring mobile phones to school, necessitating a cyber-bullying awareness session.
Learners were warned that sending inappropriate images to each other constitutes child pornography, a punishable offence. Officials emphasised that having a criminal record would disadvantage learners in future, potentially preventing them from securing employment or travelling abroad.
Behavioural Guidance
The team addressed theft amongst students, clarifying that stealing one another’s belongings constitutes a crime regardless of the perpetrator’s age.
Officials explained that bullying can result from peer pressure and jealousy, whilst cautioning that attempts at self-defence might escalate into gang-related behaviour.
The intervention represents ongoing efforts by Mangaung Metro authorities to maintain safe learning environments and address emerging social challenges affecting school communities.
