HOUT BAY – Three men were found dead with gunshot wounds inside a vehicle in Imizamo Yethu, Hout Bay, prompting a murder investigation by authorities.

The bodies were discovered in a silver Hyundai i20 parked at Holomisa Square at approximately 11:45 PM on Tuesday, 14 October. Police arrived at the scene and immediately cordoned off the area as forensic teams began their investigation.

The motive behind the triple killing remains unclear, but police sources indicate they have not ruled out extortion-related activities as they pursue all possible leads. The case has been assigned to the Provincial Serious and Violent Crime Unit due to its serious nature.

Western Cape Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Thembisile Patekile condemned the violence, describing the incident as “deeply concerning.” He has called on community members to come forward with any information that could assist the investigation.

The murders have highlighted ongoing safety issues in the area, according to local community leaders. Loyiso Skoti, chairman of the Hout Bay Community Policing Forum, expressed the fear that residents live with daily.

“People in Hout Bay are always in fear for their lives,” Skoti explained. “When it comes to connecting these crimes with broader criminal activities, we are often in the dark and must depend on police investigations.”

The Community Policing Forum works closely with the South African Police Service through monthly community meetings and joint patrols to address local crime concerns.

Authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident to contact Crime Stop anonymously on 08600 10111 or by SMS to 32211.
