The 12-year-old boy who was shot in the head during gang crossfire yesterday (October 2) has died.
Dwayne Evans, of the provincial health department said he could not disclose the family’s private information but added: “Our deepest sympathies remain with families and staff who may be affected during such a difficult time.”
According to neighbourhood watch sources, the boy died today in the early afternoon hours.
They say that three men were involved in the shooting and that two had already been arrested while a third is still being sought.
Mitchell’s Plain station commander, Brigadier Brian Muller confirmed a manhunt is underway.
“We’ve spoken to the boy’s father who said that he evicted him two weeks ago,” he said. “We are still looking for him.”
The 12-year-old and another man were shot in the street late yesterday afternoon.
The man, who Muller says was in his late twenties, was shot in the leg.
Reports on the ground say neither the boy nor the man were the shooter’s intended target.
Neighbourhood watch sources say the shooter is a known gangster.
