Two Zimbabwean nationals allegedly stole five fireplace heaters worth R200 000 from their employer and were preparing to return home with the stolen goods when a private security unit caught up with them.
The suspects’ plan unravelled on Friday evening, 26 June, after Titanium Securitas in Brackenfell received a tip-off at around 19:30 and immediately deployed its Crime Prevention Unit to one of the suspect’s residence in Bloekombos, Kraaifontein.
“After obtaining the necessary information, the unit immediately launched an investigation,” says Kobus Kotze, spokesperson for Titanium Securitas.
Using vehicle tracking data, investigators located a company bakkie and traced it to an address in Lansdowne, where some of the stolen goods had been delivered.
Two heaters valued at approximately R60 000 were recovered and one suspect was handed over to Ravensmead police along with the recovered property.

Officers then returned to the residence in search of a second suspect and cash believed to be proceeds from the sale of stolen goods.
While the second suspect was not found, members recovered additional stolen stock worth approximately R40 000, already wrapped and ready for transport.
One suspects’ girlfriend allegedly confirmed they had been planning to return to Zimbabwe with the stolen property.
