To conclude the 16 Days of Activism for No Violence against Women and Children campaign, which ran from 25 November to 10 December, the Zwelethemba Police Station, in partnership with Worcester Police Station, re-launched its Trauma Room to assist abused women, men and children.
This facility, located on the premises of the Zwelethemba Police Station, was opened on 9 December.
According to WO Vathiswa Jacobs of Worcester Police Station, the Worcester Business Forum “sponsored new furniture for the trauma room” to beautify the facility.
“The Trauma Room is available for counselling to everyone who seeks assistance (not only of women and children), as there are trained volunteers who will help the victims,” says Jacobs.
“When someone is being abused they must come to the trauma room where they will receive attention as well as help on how to get a protection order and counselling.”
Should members of the public need relevant assistance, they can contact Zwelethemba Police Station on 023 345 8000, and they will be directed to the Trauma Room.
