Learners from all over Worcester were recently elected to participate in the police’s Junior Commissioners programme.

Worcester police successfully elected the new Junior Commissioners on 20 October after several interviews were conducted.

The Junior Commissioner is a project that was created by the National Commissioner in order to involve school leaners in fighting crime at schools. The vision is to create a safe and secure learning environment that is free from violence, crime and drugs. The focus is also on the development of leaders who will uphold the moral values and principles of our society.

“The mission is to implement a multi-disciplinary intervention programme that is aimed at preventing crime and violence in schools by involving leaners to address any anti-social behaviour and criminality. The leaners are from different high schools in the Worcester area,” Warrant Officer Vathiswa Jacobs told Standard.

The Junior Station commander is Jeanne-Chayil Arendse from Pioneer School. Her deputy is Eminathi Twala from Worcester Gymnasium. The junior Vispol Commander that was elected is Wisdom Fata from Zwelethemba High School and his deputy will be Anchwin Klassen from Pioneer School. The Detective commander is Evana Pietersen from Worcester Gymnasium and her deputy is Rolecia Solman from Vusisizwe Secondary School. The Junior Support Commander is Welnay Abrahams from High School Breederivier and her deputy will be Sane Wehr from HTS Drostdy.
