In a bid to boost early-childhood development and community-based wellness services, YearBeyond has officially opened applications for its Little Explorers Early Childhood Development (ECD) Programme and Well-being Champions Programme. These aim to address crucial needs focusing on nurturing young minds and providing vital support for the well-being of a child.
The Little Explorers ECD Programme, tailored to support ECD centres and households, is geared towards fostering literacy and gross motor skills among preschool children. Recognising the significant role early childhood development plays in shaping the future of children, this not only nurtures young minds but also lays the groundwork for lifelong learning.
Simultaneously, the Wellbeing Champions Programme seeks to address the pressing need for community-based well-being services.
Participants in this programme, known as YeBoneers, serve as community listeners in critical establishments, such as police victim-support units and community-health-care facilities. Through offering such invaluable social and emotional support they contribute substantially to enhancing the well-being of individuals.
Western Cape Minister of Cultural Affairs and Sport Anroux Marais strongly encourages the youth of the Western Cape to apply for these programmes. “This is a rare opportunity for youth to gain work experience and employability while serving their country,” he said, underscoring their significance for personal growth and development.
“YearBeyond, provided me with a meaningful work experience, and I was of service to my community,” said former YeBeyoneer Miranda Zawukana.
Unemployed youth aged between 18 and 25 years can apply. Keen youth are encouraged to visit www.yearbeyond.org to keep abreast of developments.
