Learners from Worcester Primary School recently helped to colour in tekkies for the Ndlovu Youth Choir for their performance on America’s Got Talent.
The Limpopo based group are flying the South African flag high abroad.
The shoe brand Ama Tekkie designed fitting tekkies for the group. A representative from Ama Tekkie, Daniell Barnard, said they are honoured to have played a small part in the amazing story of the choir. “When we saw the choir’s first audition online we were so inspired and immediately realised that our style perfectly matched with theirs.”
Ama Tekkie customized one of their current styles, but the colour needed to match the new beautifully designed pink and green outfits.
Each tekkie had to be coloured in by hand, and that’s how Worcester Primary School got involved.
The learners transformed the tekkies during art class by colouring it in to perfectly match the choir’s outfits. They also wrote their names on the innersoles of the tekkies and inserted a short letter, wishing them well with the next performance, in the box.
The slogan the learners came up with “You’ll be in our hearts and we’ll be on your feet” sums up how inspiring the Ndlovu Youth Choir success has been to many South African children and for these children to feel proud they played a small part of such a great story.
The choir responded with a video singing and saying thank you to each learner individually.
