Zwelethemba native, Nande Mabala (25), was crowned second princess in the Miss South Africa competition on Sunday 13 August.

She spent part of her childhood growing up in Zwelethemba.

“That’s where the people who raised me come from, and with that I mean my community,” she previously said to Standard (Miss SA hopeful is a proud Zwellie, Thursday 15 June 2023).

It was her second time entering the competition after not making the selection in 2020. She however took that as an opportunity to better herself and her chances.

“I still wanted to come back and use this platform to empower people in my community and young women in South Africa as a whole.”
