André van Eck, a Worcester resident, has a long list of accomplishments, namely professional speaker, trainer, consultant, life and corporate coach, educator and now author as well.

He recently published his first book, Strategies to Advance Your Career: How to Get Ahead, Thrive and Stay Relevant in the Rapidly Changing Workplace of the 21st Century, which is a self-help business book.

Van Eck was born in Cape Town, but moved to Worcester at the age of 4 and matriculated from Montana High School in 2005.

Afterwards he entered the labour force and worked for a major South African retailer.

However, after a few years in the business sector he went to university to pursue his true passion – education.

In his teaching career he worked in adult, special needs, foreign-language and mainstream secondary education.

He also taught locally at both Langerug School and Worcester Gymnasium as well as Hex Valley High School, where he was head of the school’s English department.

In addition to his training as a teacher he holds a degree in English and history.

Van Eck also has postgraduate certificate in counselling and is currently pursuing study towards a postgraduate degree in history.

He has also used his knowledge and experience of business as well as his research skills as a history graduate and historian to write his book.

Van Eck consulted a wide range of sources for his research, ranging from audiovisual sources and documentaries to academic and business books, academic articles as well as various articles from business magazines and business websites.

The book includes information from a wide range of academic disciplines including business, psychology, sociology, business management, philosophy, education, history, and leadership.

The research he did for his book led to him developing the 12 Career Advancement Strategies that his book is based on.

Van Eck’s book is available in an e-book format from Amazon now and will be available in paperback soon from major retailers.
