Worcester DRC Practising Primary School started the school year on 18 January with a brand new English department, becoming a dual-medium school with the school’s formal opening held on 6 February. The planning and dedication to make this a reality was first brought to light in 2018 under the leadership of Elbertha Willemse, then the school’s principal, as well as its governing body. Willemse said in her speech on 6 February that the idea started when the need for subjects in English was identified in the school community. Worcester DRC Practising Primary School would like to thank the Western Cape education department who made this dream a reality. From the left are Najwah Abrahams (teacher), Megan Kriel (teacher), Kaede Paulsen (teacher), Elbertha Willemse (principal), Isabel Badenhorst (teacher) and Nicola De Beer (teacher) on the night of the formal opening. They will teach the various subjects the school offers in English.
