After struggling to fall pregnant for eight years, a woman from Worcester finally gave birth to a healthy baby boy.
Bongiwe Bantwini and her boyfriend, who she asked not to be named, had been struggling to conceive.
But, says Bongiwe, thanks to Melly “Ruben Silver” Snyders, the Rastafarian “bush doctor” on the corner of High and Adderly Street, the couple welcomed their new born baby on 25 August.
“My colleague suggested that I go to the rasta,” says Bantwini.
With her visit in November last year, she explained her situation to the bush doctor who then mixed herbs for her to drink.
“I drank the mixture with my boyfriend and shortly after that, we fell pregnant.”
The realisation that she had finally fallen pregnant after a long eight years, was overwhelming for the couple.
Her boyfriend had been trying for a child for 12 years and his ex-partner had two miscarriages in his previous relationship.
“My boyfriend was so happy, he went to thank rasta personally.”
The couple named their baby boy Isiphiwo Shakur.
Snyders has been operational on his corner for two years.
“Knowing that I brought so much joy to a family was a really nice feeling,” says Snyders.
The couple’s breakthrough motivated him to persue a mobile store.
“It would be great if I had a more secure and stable store which will allow me to better my skills.”
