ZWELETHEMBA – Tragedy struck in the Magwaleni area on the evening of 4 April. Police responded to a distress call reporting a case of domestic violence.
On their arrival they found the body of a 49-year old woman slumped against a kitchen wall and her body stained with blood from multiple stab wounds.
Despite the prompt arrival of the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) team the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
The alleged perpetrator, the woman’s 45-year-old husband, had fled the scene, but later returned with his mother in tow.
According to police spokesperson Warrant Officer Vathiswa Jacobs the suspect confessed to police officers that he was responsible for the injuries that led to the death of his wife.
The suspect is set to appear before the Worcester Magistrates’ Court on 15 April to face charges relating to the incident.
