The discovery of the body of a woman from Ashton has sent shock waves through many communities.
The bloodied body of 28-year-old Dimpho Skelenge was discovered by her neighbour in her flat in Tortelduif Street, Caledon on Tuesday (7 September) just before 06:00.
The discovery was made after the neighbour had heard the ongoing sound of Skeslenge’s phone alarm.
Lt Col Mbuyiseli Mtingane of the Caledon police confirmed the tragic incident.
“Her neighbour heard her alarm go off at 05:30, but there was no reaction to it,” he related. “He then went over to her flat, pushed the door open and discovered her lifeless body, which had stab wounds.”
The same morning the Bonnievale police arrested Wiseman Ndara (34) in connection with the murder.
According to an ex-colleague of Skelenge she had moved to Uitsig a month before when she started her new position as administration clerk at the Caledon Magistrates’ Court. Before her appointment Skelenge had worked in the same capacity at the Worcester Magistrates’ Court.
Ndara appeared in the Caledon Magistrates’ Court on Friday 9 September on a charge of murder, and will appear again on Friday the 16th for the bail hearing.
