Shortly after the first group of the general public became eligible for Covid-19 vaccination, health-care workers started to make vaccination available at more places in communities.
Through regular outreaches and other vaccination opportunities, 611 342 vaccines were administered in the Cape Winelands by 7 February.
The vaccination service has been well established at Western Cape Health’s facilities and it will continue, but make sure you are aware of the latest programme on vaccination opportunities. Some of the first changes include that from 14 February people in Worcester can visit Worcester Town Hall on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 09:00 to 15:00 for vaccination/booster doses. In Wellington vaccination/boosters are now available from Mondays to Thursdays (08:00-19:00) at Wellington Community Day Centre in Dr Abdurahman Avenue, and on Fridays from 08:00 to 15:00 until further notice.
“It is almost a year since the first vaccinations were administered in the Cape Winelands,” says Handri Liebenberg who coordinates the roll-out of the vaccine for Western Cape Health in this area.
“We can really be proud of our staff for their commitment with this service – that they do this on top of the usual health-care services.
“As the pandemic progressed, Covid-19 related services have become part of our package of services. We are now adapting our initiatives so that vaccinations and booster doses will increasingly only be available at healthcare facilities. In the meantime, please make use of the special initiatives by which we bring the vaccine/booster dose to you,” says Liebenberg.
Remember, you don’t have to register or wait for a SMS. Health-care workers will help you with registration and vaccination at the site.
